Module 6 features the home and includes discussions concerning topics such as moving into a new house, floor plans, and basic furniture. Students will develop their conversation skills through an activity in which they will present their designs for a house that responds to previously assigned criteria (for example, the number of residents, the type of residents, or certain rooms needed). Students will practise asking about other people’s houses through an activity in which they will seek out classmates whose homes or furniture match given descriptions. For cultural reference, this module includes a description of traditional Chinese homes. This module’s assignment and assessment worksheets outline grammar points and develop the core language skill-set: students will listen to descriptions of houses’ interiors and exteriors, and will practise reading, writing and speaking skills by describing the house, its basic appliances, and furniture.
